"The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society" is the first concept album by the band led by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. It deals with the stuffy idyll of life in a fictional rural small town. It is the sixth album of the Kinks, all songs were written by Ray Davies.

After its release, the album proved to be a flop, but today it is considered a classic: Rolling Stone places it at number 258 of the 500 best albums of all time.
