Laut Fragen is an electro-postpunk duo from Vienna. Since 2016, Maren Rahmann (voice) and Didi Disko (electronics, guitar, voice) have dedicated themselves to postpunk in its broadest definition. After the album “Facetten des Widerstandes“, which dealt with the resistant past, Laut Fragen now present “Age of Angst”, a panorama of our present time with all its noise and discord, but also with moments of beauty. The musical spectrum is wide: electronic experiments meet catchy hooklines, up-tempo songs meet sound collages, guitar feedback meets danceable beats. A dystopian-like atmosphere runs through the songs as a common thread, sometimes tending towards melancholy, sometimes towards anger. This is sometimes reminiscent of the early 1980s, when, after the liberation of punk, music was allowed to be anything except boring and predictable.
But be careful: this is not a nostalgic retro project. The songs are rooted in the present, and it's not just the lyrics that deal with such red-hot topics as self-optimization, sexism, the climate catastrophe or the longing for a better world. “Age of Angst” is ironic and angry, playful and to the point, desperate but full of hope. “Age of Angst” is an attempt to distill and spit out the madness of these times in sounds and words.
