Omnium Gatherum's 16 tracks are a mix of gonzo prog jams, dizzying pop nuggets, rubber-legged hip-hop odysseys and passages of pure thrash metal abandon, providing plenty for Gizzard fans and newcomers alike to chew on. Usually, Gizzard albums follow a single theme or style - but part of the thrill of O.G. was the opportunity for the group to present new ideas without committing the entire album to one. It's both the perfect introduction for newcomers and a solid treat for loyal fans.

"Omnium Gatherum" was intended as a compendium of unreleased songs that had not found a place on previous Gizzard albums, and soon the group was writing and recording new songs for the fast-growing album. The tracks were recorded at Gizz headquarters, but also at their legendary, now abandoned clubhouse at 253 Lygon Street. Lyrically, the themes are varied, but the group's concern for the ecological well-being of the planet remains a constant. Some tracks return to the synth-psych visions of "Butterfly 3000," while others pick up the feverish thrash-metal attack that defined Gizzard on 2019's "Infest The Rat's Nest."
