Undoubtedly, few songs in 2021 have been as anticipated as "Easy On Me", the new single by Adele. After just a few hours, the video for the piano ballad had been viewed by around 15 million people on YouTube alone - and the trend is still rising, of course.
And the music world is just as excited about the new album by the British pop, soul, jazz and R'n'B singer and songwriter: "30" is the name of the record, Adele's fourth studio album, which, like its three predecessors "19" (2008), "21" (2011), and "25" (2015), she named after the age at which she began work on it.
According to the statement, she spent three years writing the new songs, which she eventually recorded with star producers Greg Kurstin, Max Martin and Shellback, who had worked on her previous album. Additional support came from Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson, Canadian singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Jr, British producer Inflo of the music collective Sault, and rappers and producers Tyler, The Creator and Skepta. As with Adele's previous albums, the vocals on "30" are the original demo recordings.
On "30," Adele comes to terms with her divorce from her ex-husband while singing about being a mother and the darker side of fame. "I learned a lot of bitter truths about myself along the way," the 33-year-old wrote in a social media post. During this time, she said, music was like a "friend who always checked in with me, even when I stopped checking in with him because I was so consumed by my own grief. Since then, I've been painstakingly rebuilding my home and my heart, and this album is about that."
