The solo debut back on vinyl
At the beginning of 2019, Beth Gibbons presented a live recording of her performance of Henryk Górecki's Symphony No. 3 together with the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra.
Now the Portishead singer's first and, apart from the concert album, only solo album to date is finally being reissued on vinyl. The LP version has been out of print for many years.
"Out Of Season" was originally released in 2002, a year later in the USA. In Germany, it reached number 13 in the charts.
The term "solo album" only applies to "Out Of Season" to a limited extent, as Gibbons is supported on the album by Talk Talk bassist Paul Webb, albeit under the pseudonym Rustin Man. There are also guest contributions from Portishead band colleague Adrian Utley.
For the reissue, "Out Of Season" was remastered at Abbey Road Studios and pressed on heavyweight vinyl.
Fans have been waiting a long time for this reissue: Beth Gibbon's solo debut album "Out Of Season" finally back on record.
Reviews
"You can hear music from another world, or at least from a time long gone: mysteriously arranged songs mysteriously arranged songs at the interface between chanson and 'torch song', between jazz of the 30s and 40s, folk and adult pop music: lost in dreams, full of longing, deeply egocentric, of course, and as devoted to the grand gesture as to the small detail." (Stereoplay, January 2003)
