Fans of Bombino and Tuareg music will discover a few notable innovations on this album. The first innovation is the introduction of an entirely new style that Bombino is pioneering here. He affectionately calls the sunny blend of blues/rock and a reggae "onedropandbounce" beat "Tuareggae"
Another innovation is the use of Western vocal harmonies in Tuareg music recordings for the first time (through Longstreth's influence), which adds a whole new depth and color to the songs. "Azel" is the name of a small desert town just a few miles from Agadez.
